Company to Provide Complete IF Matrix Switching System and Integration
PHOENIX (Oct. 9, 2007) – Antenna Technology Communications Inc., a provider of commercial satellite communications systems, today announced that it has won a 1.2 million bid from the NOAA to provide the company with a complete IF matrix switching system that will be integrated into the Wallops Command & Data Acquisition Station (WCDAS) in Wallops Island, Virginia.
The WCDAS is the Nation’s only Geostationary Weather Satellite facility that can service all of the GOES series spacecrafts. GOES spacecrafts are national assets to the U.S. government and critical to the nation’s ability to protect against weather related events.
ATCi with ETL Systems are providing all equipment, materials, services and integration necessary for the IF matrix switching system. The IFDS switching system, a critical subsystem, provides all uplink and downlink signals to the nation’s geostationary weather satellites. Failure of this system could cause loss of all radio frequency communications that could potentially result in spacecraft damage.
“There is an intensive movement toward this new breed of fully automated matrix switching systems that enable the power of digital communications to instantaneous access to the vast expanse of RF spectrum,” said Gary Hatch, ATCi’s CEO. “It is imperative in today’s highly digital world that any government, civil and broadcast entity would have this type of leading edge automated matrix switching system integrated into their RF infrastructure.” “When implemented, these next generation systems are revolutionizing the speed and efficiency of RF/digital processing which is vital to these operations,” Hatch concluded., Germany.
The project is to be complete by March 2008.
